St John Feast Day Bonfire & Parish-wide Picnic

Event Chair: Ed Bahoura

DETAILS:

The Feast of St. John the Baptist Bonfire is rooted in a centuries-old Catholic tradition celebrating the birth of St. John the Baptist on June 24.

The tradition comes from Luke 1:57-80. When John was born, his father Zechariah regained his speech and proclaimed God's greatness. Across Europe, Catholics began lighting bonfires on St. John's Eve (June 23) as a symbol of:

🔥 Light overcoming darkness

🔥 Preparing the way for Christ, just as John the Baptist did

🔥 Renewal, conversion, and faith

🔥 Christian fellowship and community
